Is a weekly french manicure better for your natural nails than using acryllics?

If i want to maintain perfect nails which is bestIs a weekly french manicure better for your natural nails than using acryllics?
acryllic nail damages your nails, even the gel nails damages them. When they are eventually taken off your nails are very brittle and gross. Keep up with the manicure. Is a weekly french manicure better for your natural nails than using acryllics?
Absolutely, acrylics are all chemicals and from experience it took me 5 years to get my natural nails back to the healthy standards I had after using acrylic nails. Now I use Sally Hansen's Products or colourless iodine to strengthen and grow my nails.
Definitely a weekly manicure. If you already have nice nails do not ruin them with acrylics. Because when you decide you don't want acrylics anymore they are really going to be hard to get back to normal.
Yeah, Alot better..when you do French manicure, Your only putting polish on your tips...When you do Acrylics, Your putting Gel like stuff on your nails, which hardened, and when you take them it, It really wrecks your nails.
yeah its better for your nails

Is It Okay For Men To Have French Tips Put On Their Nails?

Im a 21 year old guy and want a french manicure with french tips put on. Is that odd?

I also want my toe nails nice and sexy as well!Is It Okay For Men To Have French Tips Put On Their Nails?
I'm a guy %26amp; I've had a french manicure in the past out of curiosity and a love for that look (seriously, some women with french nails look amazing! I actually get jealous). Well, despite the nail tech being a bit weirded out but pretty cool with it, she was very complimentary when finished as were most other people I saw over the next week. I loved it and the only reason I haven't done it again since is becasue I have been travelling %26amp; thus been broke for some time. However, I have my first nail appointment after a long hiatus this week to have a manicure again and I'll be getting french polish on my nails again, since my nails are just past my fingertips. I love this look, it's soo sexy and I've had nothing but compliments! So, go for it, maybe we can start a craze... ;-)Is It Okay For Men To Have French Tips Put On Their Nails?
there is so much wrong with that question i dont even know where to begin, im all for looking good but seriously i think you need to step back a bit. youve crossed a line their by even knowing what a french tip is. you need sports and now.
Hope you have a great night out at the Admiral Lord Nelson.
Well you're gay so you can get away with it hun!

You aren't thinking of doing it yourself though are you? Because it takes practice not to make a mess of it. Book yourself into a salon or get a female friend to teach you how to do it.

Who cares what others think, they'll just be jealous that you have better nails than them!

Definatly go get a pedicure too, makes a change to read of a man who wants to have nice feet!
thats pretty weird. I don't think you should do it.
I would find it odd. Clean, well-groomed nails are nice. That's overboard, in my opinion. But do whatever you like, it's your body!
No ones stopping you, but it would be strange.

D:
only if a girl is there with you, and its a jokey kinda thing...

if you are deadly serious about doing it on your own... seek help...

nah man just kidding, if thats what you want, then do it, you can do whatever you like! :-)
um....sure...go on ahead
its not normal, but do wat u want, its cute :)
Of course its OK, I love doing my boyfriends nails, I think its so cute.
Sure why not. ';to each their own';
You know...uh....if you got it, flaunt it...i guess
eeehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh鈥?nasty you gotta relise what sex u r

looking after your nails is fine but getting fake ones is just wrong
Are you gay? And no i like my guys non-gay!
No way! Not even if you're gay.
I guess it's alright if that's what you want. Certainly not my scene. But then I'm probably out of touch at age almost 75.
yeah thats cool! I do my bfs nails.... although he pretends to fight it... he loves it really!!
your obviously a confident gay man, so what the hell go for it.
No, honey, it is not okay. Just have your finger and toe nails nicely cut and buffed and you are good to go.
better with something more. your makeup, hairstyle and dress need to look feminine and chic in order to get a harmonious and pretty look. Only having french nail doesn't look comfortable.
thats gay
LMAO

Theres nothing wrong with a guy wanting to keep his nails clean, or even with painting them clear.. but getting a french manicure is going to far.. I mean its completely up to you, no one is going to stop you.. but gay or not, leave this style to the women.. please
if ur a homo den ofcourse go for it but if ur not it wont b normal only if ur super hott and have a girlfriend and thar ur positive ur straight LoL
It's your body! Why not?? Don't fancy the toenails doing though!!! Ouch!! They hurt!
its fine with me
I guess if you're gay, it wouldn't be weird. I was worried before you said that!
Never, EVER!!

Mascara yes, plucking eyebrows yes, filing and shaping nails yes - french manicure NO!!!
I don't think it's ok.
Hmmm, not my cup of tea but

whatever takes your fancy!

Nothing ventured nothing gained as they say.
hi i dont think it would be a good idea for you to have that done as you may look to feminin but why dont u try having your nails buffed or something

  • What color nail polish is better for french monicure?and what product ?

Whites, creams, peaches, and pinks are my favorite for French manicures.

Opi and Orly are my favorite brands. They are good quality and cover well. You can find them at places like Sally Beauty supply.

You can find a few French manicure colors and kits here...

If you bite your nails can you get a French Manicure?

I've never gotten one before so I wouldn't know how it works. I've (so far) stopped biting my nails but I just want to know basically how it works. If you bite your nails can you get a French Manicure?
Yes you can get a manicure if you bite your nails. They don't out and actual nail on just a tip, put some jelly acrylic, dry, and file (the file hurts a bit and is sore for a day or two). Then paint and finish! If you bite your nails can you get a French Manicure?
Yeah, I bite my nails and I tried stopping to get my nails done. I got a French Manicure but it didn't look very good since my nails were still pretty short, fragile, and I would forget my nails are painted and start biting them. If you can really stop biting your nails then I say go for it.
    Yeah, but it looks worse.

A tip, I got a do it yourself french manicure kit at walmart for 7 bucks and it's just as good. Everyone asks me if I got them done professionally. It was a sally hanson kit.
yea you could if you stopped biting your nails and waiting until you see some of the white part of your nail you could get a french manicure :)

    Hope this helped

How long do my nails have to be for a french manicure?

My nails are not past the tips of my fingers yet. Is that too short? How long do my nails have to be for a french manicure?
yeahhhHow long do my nails have to be for a french manicure?
    Like 3 feet.
u should try 2 grow them a little but they can do it like that with a thinner line is all
Just past the ends of your fingers:)
They need to have some white showing.
no you can still get your nails done it doesnt matter how short they are
if the nail people can do tiny toes, they can do tiny finger nails!

it's a layer of paint on the top...so they can be any length!
well it depends on the shape of your nails but there has to be at least two millimeter of white tips
That's not too short. The white will just be painted over the flesh colored part of your nails. Afterwards your nails will look longer.
any nail past the pad of your fingertip is worth being painted and can be but below is just clear for now as it be not preeety
They can still do it but it wouldn't look as nice if you waited until they had grown out some.
you could get em done but theyll probably fall off before you get fills and would have wasted your money so you shold wait
I think that you should ask a nail technintoin at a nail salon. Then take their advice.
You can get them but they'll look better if your nails are a little longer. Or just get acrylics. Whenever I get a new set, they always clip my nails so they're super short anyways so you can definitely get them done and they'll look great. And I keep mine just past the tips of my fingers because of work %26amp; still get a french manicure %26amp; they look good.

Acrylic nail fillins show through my french manicure.?

I have been getting acrylic fill ins for about 3 mths now. I like getting my nails french manicured/airbrushed but notice now that you can see all the fill ins and repairs that have been done over time. This is very noticeable on the nail and makes the french manicure look bad.

I was wondering if fillins look this bad when using gel nails too? Ive been considering having the acrylic taken off and going with gel if it would look better and not leave fill in marks.

My own nails are very long (no need for tips etc). I basically got the acrylic done because my own nails kept splitting and breaking.Acrylic nail fillins show through my french manicure.?
Acrylic and gel are very similar, but in my experience a set of acrylic nails that are done professionally should not have any evidence of back fills. I have been doing acrylics for well over a year and when a set have been repaired they look like new.Acrylic nail fillins show through my french manicure.?
Acrylic is stronger than gel, but I like gel better because to me it looks better. If you go to gel, make sure it is really gel. If the person doing your nails, takes their brush %26amp; dips in liquid then powder, I don't care what they say, it's acrylic. Gel looks like gel, hence the name. Some nail techs will do acrylics with a gel overlay %26amp; charge you for gels.

Oh, make sure they are using the same product each time you get your nails done. Even though acrylic is acrylic, different products have different recipes to make their polymer for their acrylic product.

What is the Difference Between French Tip and Acrilyic Nails?

French Tip is just white at the end of your nails, you can get it done with out acrilics, or with acrylics if you want. Thats really the only diffrence. If your wondering what acrilyic is, its a powder turned into a forming gel that is aplied to the nail to make a longer nail, and drys quickley. What is the Difference Between French Tip and Acrilyic Nails?
nothing really, the french tip has a white line going across the tip and the acrylic is what they use to put on the nailsWhat is the Difference Between French Tip and Acrilyic Nails?
french tip is when the have the pink polish with the white tips. acrylic nails are the fake nails that are cemented onto your natural nails. you can have a french tip on your natural nails.
Nothing. French tip is when they make the tip of your nail white! If you are looking at having fake nails i suggest, Full Set Acrilyic with a French tip.
Umm, I don't really get your question, because they can put on a white tip (which is a french tip) with your acrylic nails.

They put the tip on your nail, and layer the acrylic on top. The acrylic comes in a powder form that becomes a molding gel once mixed with a solution and dries fairly quickly when applied to the nail.
i believed that the term french tip is refer to a color choice/perference painted on top of either your real/artificial nail. Acrylic nails refer to the artificial enhancement that is applied to the real nail. also is made up of a chemical combination of a powdery substance and a form of liquid type that forms an acrylic material when dried. hope that helps.

  • How can i put on fake clear nails (they are natural looking french tip) w/o the glue showing?

I had to go to a wedding, and i am in the pictures, was going to get my nails done but would like to get the look buy buying them so I don't have to spend as much money. I just put 2 on, and u can see the glue underneath. Like a whiteish color. Do I just slide them on or press them on to get the glue spread out??How can i put on fake clear nails (they are natural looking french tip) w/o the glue showing?
Oh come on. Stop being so cheap! Getting your nails done professionally does not cst a lot of money. And fake nails that you glue on look like really fake. I've never seen ANY fake glue on nails that looked even close to being real. Besides, it's a wedding. Can't you spend a little money on your nails for a special occasion like that? Don't be so cheap, lol! How can i put on fake clear nails (they are natural looking french tip) w/o the glue showing?
or what you could do, is use nail polish to make a french tip. I do that all the time. Get three basic shades of nail polish: Beige/pink, white, and clear topcoat. Put three coats of the pink on and wait for it to dry. Then, from going straight left to right on your nail, use the white to make a straight line (the tip!), then wait for that to dry and put the top coat on. (make sure you put a large amount on so it protects better. I would say about 3-4 coats. Wait for the nail polish to completely dry. I do this all the time and the best part is that it doesn't matter how long you nail is, the white will make it look even longer. Plus, you don't have to mess around with glue and plastic nails lol. Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! = D

How do I take off a french manicure on my real nails??

Well, I was a dama in this cotillian and I got a french manicure on my real nails, I really wanna take it off because it's bothering me.How do I take off a french manicure on my real nails??
Nail polish remover/acetone.How do I take off a french manicure on my real nails??
If it's polish, remove with a polish remover, acetone polish remover works best as it's stronger, just use a good hand cream oir moisturiser afterwards.

Acrylics/gels/waps...NEVER EVER PULL THEM OFF!! They completely ruin your nails when you rip the off, you're tearing off layers of your nail plate making them very thin, which may lead to permanent damage. Use acetone to soak them off or return to a salon to have them removed. I have seen nails that are paper thin, split, peel, nails that grow out with holes in them, all due to ripping off nail extensions. Don't be stupid, just soak them off.
If it's a french manicure with the ';glue-on'; nails you can soak your hands in water and it eventrually comes off ,or you can clip it off with a nail-trimmer. If it was a painted manicure just use nailpolish remover. Good luck! ^_^
is it just painted on? use nail polish remover.

if they're acrylics, you should probably go get them removed ($6) or find some acetone and soak your nails in them then scrape. then soak again and scrape some more. it's gonna be a pain in the butt and hurt a little if you do it yourself.
Use an Acetone nail polish remover. will come right off if its just polish. Most Nail Polish removers are Non Acetone, use the Acetone one. All the nail salons use it. You can get it at just about anywhere. Walmart sells it for like 2 bucks.
    i've done that before.

first soak them in hot water...multiple times, just so that there softer. you can take a nail file and thin it down of you can just pull tem off after that. It's up to you hun
There are a variety of different nail polish removers out there that you can order online or buy at a drugstore such as CVS or Walgreens. But if something like the smell bothers you then baby oil might work.
    nail polish remover..

    duh

    acrylics?PULL THEM OFF!
    Just use nail polish remover
I like the fingernail polish pads from wal-mart they inexpensive and work well.I just used them last night.

    Use paint thinner.
nail polish remover its works wonders...get the extra strong stuff it makes it really easy
Use nail polish remover... pour some on a cotton round thing and wipe the polish off of your nails.

    I hope this helps.
    lol...sorry no help
uhh let me think nail polish remover duh!
    nail polish remover?!

or if they're acrilics..just pull them off

How do you keep a french manicure lasting on real nails?

i had my nails done friday at a salon and they are already beginning to chip. any ideas? How do you keep a french manicure lasting on real nails?
Yeah, like don't wet your hands at all for as long as you can. It happens to me too which is why I always give up and stop getting them cuz it gets expensive. I do dishes every day 2-3 times a day, bathe my daughters, shower myself, etc. so I think that's what does it. I use to wear gloves to try and make it last but the gloves are uncomfotable.

That's why I just paint my nails, it's weird though how your pedicure will last like a month. Go figure. Good luck! How do you keep a french manicure lasting on real nails?
no french manicure lasts THAT long...but OPI makes a great top that should make it last for @ least 1week before chipping..
cover them with a think coat of clear polish
UMMM maybe put a clear coat on or even a few!! But If i was u I wouldn't go to that place anymore expeically if there already chipping!!
Try not to bump into anything...
My nails use to do that all the time. I got into the habit of putting clear nail polish over my manicured nails in the morning and at night. You can even carry it with you and put it on when you have a break in your day. It really helped me. The clear nail polish covers and protects the paint underneath, it also makes your nails look fresher and shinier all the time. Hope it helps :)
Sally Hansen has an acrylic clear coat that keeps nails from chipping. It really works if you follow the directions. Other than that, try to avoid submerging your hands in soapy water like when doing dishes or if you wash a car. Even with everything, french manicures chip REALLY easily. If the manicure is already chipping and you just had it done on Friday, I wouldn't go there again either.
Always keep a coat of clear nail polish over them. It would stop them from peeling

What is the best brand of prepared French manicured stick on yourself nails?

try revlon or kiss brand. the last time i did a makeover on my bf i used the kiss brand and he had them on for 10 days with no problem

I would go with french tips, because they are not so harsh on the eyes, and easily match any out fit. All around its just a cuter look! Good luck!
indigo blue for sure! judging by Ur pic it would suit you!
Go With A French White Tip - For A Professional And Clean Look. Good For Interviews, Or Something Formal.

Indigo Blue - If Its Just For Hanging Out, Or Just For Fun.
I agree w/poster above - french tips in dark blue/light blue. It was popular in the late 90s but now you never see it so it's original looking.
I'd say go for the french tips, class never goes out of style.

better yet, get a buffing set from Obey Your Body, %26amp; do totally natural nails, looking like thier already polished. that's really pretty %26amp; shiny. Healthy looking %26amp; doesnt have to be redone often.
french mani looks better and goes with more outfits

french tip is so classy, but if you want to be edgy or younger go with indigo blue.
French tips go with just about anything, but if blue is in parts of your outfit, it would be a good accent
Inidgo blue. French tips are played out and tacky. Too many white trash women have worn them and ruined the look.

    Kiss everlasting french nails?

I wanted to try them, but I play volleyball most days of the week, and my ballet teacher HATES long nails. Are they easy to trim? Will they look weird if I try to file them? And I'm not really a big fan of putting glue on my nails, since I've heard the horror stories on what they do to your own nails, so what product should I get? Is anything else better than kiss? I'm going to walgreens with my mom tomorrow... so...

Last question: Are stick on nails better than the glue on ones?Kiss everlasting french nails?
Well I got them. My dance teacher says the same thing! I got extra short, and they looked really good. Everyone thought they were my real nails! The glue did no damage to my nails whatsoever. You just have to file down the top coat, put a little nail polish remover on them, and gently peel. It didn't even hurt when I did it! I would definitely recommed them, but here is a tip: when gluing them on, press down for a few seconds or there is air between the fake nail and your natural nail. And you can file them a bit if they are too long for your liking. Good luck!Kiss everlasting french nails?
Buying the fake nails is not worth it and getting acrylic nails arent any better because they damage your real nails and they dont last very long regardless of what the technician says.

Heres what you should do if you want long lasting french nails. Go to a nail salon and tell them you want your nails painted french %26amp; you want the gel on top of it. My mom is a nail technician and she does it for me all the time.
Those Nails are Dumb i think u would be Better Getting them Done at A Shop.. because the Everlasting one's will Fall off In like 2 days get the real nails done at the shop not those glue on ones

French tipped nails! *** any body know easiest way to do them?

i usually do my nails with a little kit is there an easier and cheap way that i can do them (no salon) tired of the strips taking forever and the gewy clear coat polish any suggestions?!French tipped nails! *** any body know easiest way to do them?
just put tape over your nails except forthe tips and paint the tips white.French tipped nails! *** any body know easiest way to do them?
I don't think this is easier, but you could do it how they do it in the salons.

Apply the first coat of clear polish. Put on the first coat of white. Put on the second coat of white. Then you take a small painting brush and dip it in nail polish remover and you brush away the excess white that you don't want. Then you apply your top coat of clear polish.

I've done it before but only to my feet.
not sure if this is cheaper, but this is a really easy and fast way to do them:

Straight line for french tips && different nail designs help?

I grew my nails out and shaped them up. I wanna do french tips on my regular nails instead of paying to get them done because that could damage my real nails and the nearby nail salons suck when painting the white line. I have the clear polish, the white thin pointed polish and the pinkish polish. How can i make a straight line because i keep messing up ?

Also what other cute designs can i do with my different polishes ?

[[hot pink, purple, light pink, darkish red, white thin point and a light blue)]Straight line for french tips %26amp;%26amp; different nail designs help?
I do the same thing. I took some pratice it get right the first time.

I usually start doing my left hand first and do each finger one by one laying it flat (the nail part of the finger that is). I hold the brush in my right hand and paint the white tip from left to right. and do the opposite on my right hand. I hope this helps :)

some thing that I can find at home like a bandaid is there something else I can use like that? What can I use as a guide on my nails to do a french manicure?
My aunt owns a nail salon in San Francisco and I saw her do this one time. She used tape, just regular home, plastic tape. She curves it around the edge of nail and paints the tip white. I'm sure it'll take time to perfect or have someone help you? It's the first time I've seen it done.

Or if you have a small eyelid brush that you don't want anymore...paint the tips white and forget about making it perfect. Pour a little nailpolish remover into the cap and dip the brush in and correct the nail tips to the shape you want. Probably best to have someone help you though. What can I use as a guide on my nails to do a french manicure?
They sell a little piece of tape that you placeon your nails and it guides you threw your fresh manicure, and it comes in different styles. but if u want something inexpensive try what I do I just follow my own nail pattern and they look great, to the point that some people ask me where I get my nails done..
Band-Aids are a good idea. You could use tape, I suppose, but depending on the kind it can leave residue on your nails. Anything that will stick to your nails to make a guide.
    clear tape...its helps a lot
They do sell french manicure guide strips thaey are qhite and you can buy them from walmart or or any retail store. But if you are looking for something from home then use some masking tap. Its cheap and works great!

  • Does french manicure look better when done with liquid paper or nail polish?

when u do a french manicure on yourself do u prefer or looks better liquid paper or nail polish?Does french manicure look better when done with liquid paper or nail polish?
Liquid paper is not intended to be a nail polish, and when it gets scratched, it looks childish and, well, ghetto. So my answer is nail polish.Does french manicure look better when done with liquid paper or nail polish?
well i think probly nail polish because liquied paper smells and nail polish would be even and look great
    nail polish last longer then

and liquid paper wouldn't look really good

    NAIL POLISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Uh, polish.
    nail polish
    Ummmmm. Polish
nail polish! liquid paper doesn't go on as smooth. =]
i tried the liquid paper route but it only lasts for a day because some of it gets chipped off during the day and when you shower, it just all falls off. i think nail polish is better. it stays on longer. plus liquid paper just looks tacky.

get nail tip stickers soo u dont have to paint them... all you do is stick them on and then paint a clear polish over them... easy!!
I always do them freehand but then make them a little thicker than i want. Dip a soft painbrush in some nailpolish remover and go over the egde adn shape them how you want. it gives you a clean finish.
i just do them free hand...the opposite hand is a little hard but if you do it slow it should work

just do it on the part of your nails that are grown out and then add a clear coat and it is done
go to rite aid and buy something like ';a manicure set'; or something. they give you a special manicure pen and nail polish... and instructions!! its only like $7
    Try Sally Hanson
use tape to control how much of your nail you want to be white.
i just do it free hand, like the others mentioned. and then you can use a q-tip dipped in fingernail polish remover to make the white lines straighter.(.its a little hard to explain..) then after it dries you can use clear fingernail polish over it. good luck! hope i helped.
i use nail tip guid stickers to do the white part first. then i go over with a light pink and then a clear top coat

Just get some of that clear coat shiny nail polish. It'll make it so that it looks really shiny and it will protect your nails longer. I just got a french manicure professionally done on Thursday. I use that stuff and it works good. You can get it at a Beauty Supply store like Sally's.I want to french manicure my nails at home, but how do i get them to look thicker and shiny?
use any clear top coat. just find a bottle of nailpolish that looks clear. sometimes i like taking one of my sheer polishes with a tiny bit of sparkle and using it for the top coat to give it a little extra girlyness

  • How to remove French nails?

They are made of gel and hardened under a uv-light. I want to remove them myself. But how???How to remove French nails?
Oh jeez, no one in here knows what they are talking about. Acetone, hot water, pull them off - wow....Wrong answers, people....

The ONLY way to remove UV gel nails is to file them off. There very few exceptions to the rule. One is that IF they were No-light gel nails, then yes - you could soak them off. Those really aren't gel nails anyway but rather a cyanoacrylate-based type of nail. But that is not the case here. Two: If you had a soakable gel applied, then yes you could soak them off. Very few techs use this type of product, so it is highly unlikely that you have this type of gel on your nails. That leaves only one other type of gel - the 'traditional' UV nail gel.

This MUST be filed off. There is no way around it. Oh yeah there is. If you wanted to be foolish enough and try to tear them off, or pry them off - yeah, that would work. But, I would think that you do not want to risk your natural nails being severely damaged in the process, and hurt like crazy too. This is the way that many chop shops remove them. That is NOT the way to remove them. Do not let a tech do this to you. Ever. Not for acrylic, not for gels either.

If you really want to remove them yourself, then you must do so very, very carefully and gently or else you will ruin your natural nails. Get a few (2-3) GOOD 180 grit nail files. You will need more than one as the gel will wear them out quickly. Then, start filing the surface of your gel nails, but do it gently, and slowly. Avoid spending too much time in one spot, but instead keep the file moving across the nail and try to remove the gel evenly on the entire nail. Remember, if the nails were applied correctly -IF, then they will be thicker in the middle, and taper off toward the cuticle area. Be especially careful filing around this area. The gel will most like be quite thin here, and it will not take much effort to remove it from around the cuticle area. In the middle, and toward the free edge is where the gel should be the thickest.

Take the time out to dust off your nails and take a really close look at your progress. It's really kind of difficult to tell where the gel ends, and your real nails begin. You have to be careful, or you can easily file right through the gel and into your natural nails without even knowing it. So, just keep a very close eye on how much gel has been removed. When you can begin to see your natural nails, you have filed them enough in that area of the nail. Stop filing that area when this happens or you will risk what is called ';rings of fire.'; This is when the tech has overfiled into your natural nails and the result is a semi-circular looking red ring on your nail near the cuticles. It's easily visible when you get rings of fire. They are quite distinct looking! If this happens, there is no way to repair it. You have to let the damage grow out on it's own. And that will takes literally several months for it to grow out totally. Avoid doing this in the first place and you won't have any rings of fire! But honestly? It's easier said than done, especially for a beginner!

Don't go back over the areas that are already showing your natural nails. Use great care doing this entire process. It's perfectly fine - and acceptable to leave a very thin layer of gel on your natural nails, especially if you don't feel comfortable filing them in the first place. There really is no need to remove ALL of it because it will grow out eventually, and you should be able to remove enough of it to make them look natural again. But yeah, leaving a tiny layer of gel on your natural nails is totally fine, and won't hurt them in the least bit. Like I said though, use at least a 180 grit nail file, and no lower of a number, such as 150 or 100 grit. The lower the number, the coarser the grit will be. You don't want to use a low grit which is too coarse on gel nails because UN nail gels file down rather easily, thus using, say, a 100 grit file would be way too coarse for what you need it for. Gels always file off much easier - and faster, than acrylic does. I'm going to tell you though, this is not going to be a 10 minute job! Expect to be filing for about 45 minutes to an hour!!! That is how long it should take if you do the job correctly. Don't rush it. You will be taking a big chance at damaging your natural nails. Trust me, it's very easy to damage them by overfiling because the filed gel looks very similar to your natural nails. And you really need to keep brushing them off, and seeing exactly how far you have filed so far. Eventually, you will be able to see your natural nails show through, or at least get close enough to them to just leave it as it is and call it good.

The fact is that many nail techs do not tell people about the removal of UV gel nails and how difficult it is. Truthfully, UV gel nails are NOT recommended for people who only want the nail enhancements on for a short time. When you get real UV gel nails, it really is a long term commitment. For those who want nails only for a short while, and then plan to have them removed, then either wraps, or as a second choice - acrylics, are the way to go. But gels really are for the long-term due to the difficulty of removing them.

I hope this helps! Good Luck!!!How to remove French nails?
When i had them i called the salon and asked how to remove them and they basically said to clip them down to regular nail size and soak them in acetone. it takes a long time though. it will more than likely make your fingers really cold too.
Maybe soak in acetone until they drop off? That's what they recommend for fake nails.

It might not be the most sensible idea - you could really ruin your nails... I suggest you go to your salon if you want them off that bad!
Clip back as much as possibly first, then soak in acetone nail polish remover for ages!! Then buff and shine. Takes a long time.
soak it in a nail polish remover until it goes off..

soak them in acetone nail varnish and then they shud just come off if u rub them with a cotton pad
Hot water and soap, dont worry about pulling them off hard when taking them off. Work around the nail lifting small bits at a time, then u should have no trouble!
ask someone else to do it for you

Bright! French gets boring, some people are afraid to experiment.

I love acrylics, but gel nails are best if you're going the fake route. Of course natural is better but I just can't grow mine.
I couldn't agree more, Sexy Love! I'm a nail tech too, and I hate the comments from all these people who go to discount salons, spend like $20 for a full set, then complain that their nails are ruined, or that they hurt, etc. You get what you pay for. You pay for cheap nails, you get cheap nails.

She is so right - an experienced tech will NOT damage your nails.
depends on my mood but mainly brightly colored. you can just get manicure for your natural nails, but sometimes I like the acrylic.
chicks with french manicures are hot... go that way
depends. colored nails are fun and edgy, but a French manicure goes with anything and is really pretty and classic. i do both.

And do natural. fake nails are trashy and acrylics really screw up your nails (but if you MUST, do acrylics over fake nails) If you don't do you nails too much, DON'T do fake or acrylic because, as I said, it will really ruin your natural nails and take forever to grow them back out. If you french manicure don't go all out and ghetto (actually, you can only do ghetto french manicure if you where fake nails). have fun with it!

    :)
french manicure is the best. It just looks so classy. In fact, I am wearing them right now.
It depends on my mood. Mostly I do bright colors. Also i like to do my french in different colors as well. I dont agree with the people who say dont get acrylics because they damage your nails. I am a licenced nail technician and I feel that when people say that it gives us a bad rep. If you go to an experienced qualified person your nails will not be damaged at all.
I personally prefer French manicure, but I don't like Acrylics and don't recommend them, because you have to maintain them all the time, you have to get them fill in every 2 weeks or less, if you don't plan on maintaining them, then keep it natural, because if those acrylics don't get fill ins they will look ugly.
i love colored nails, because you can change it up...but when you have acrylics you can't really do nothing with it...
i personally like french manicures, but only on square ended acrylics. i dont like fakes and they fall off all the time. acrylics are good if you get them done @ a reputable place. natural nails can pull off bright colors w/ the right outfit. and acrylics will usually hurt a bit the 1st couple days then they are fine.

    Hope this helps!!

brightly colored no fake nails they are a pain and not even that pretty
it depends what look im going for, if im wearing something nice and sophisticated then i would probably go with the french manicure, but if im going to a friends party then i would probably wear some bright color. i get fake nails every once in a while, i got acrylics about a month a go i like to get them sometimes. :]]]
it depends on the kinda the way u wanna b looked at...

fake French will make u b look on more seriously then somebody with pink natural nails. Natural is more youthful and fake is adult like.
French for sure., Seems more classy to me and goes with everything!

Also, If I didn't have nails that grow like weeds I think i'd go with the Acrylic. They are stronger and easier to fix.

because my real nails aren't long enough for french manicures.

or do you recommend me not to get fake nails. and just let them do my french manicure short? Can i get fake nails for french manicures?
You can get fake nails with the French manicure or get the French manicure painted onto your nails.

Fake nails can ruin your nails if you're not careful and don't follow instructions on removing them. Can i get fake nails for french manicures?
i think fake nails french manicure are totally awesome. it will last longer and look better!
It really depends on you! I've done both but I personally think that the french mani looks much better on acrylic or gel nails because they just look flawless. I've done a french mani on my own nails too but I do so much housework with my hands that the nail polish chips after a few hours after they are done.

If you get acrylics (cheapest) or gel nails done, you just have to be careful not to get them too long or they will seriously affect your everyday routines. You also have to becareful of how clean the environment of the nail shop is to prevent yourself from getting any gross nail fungus, or weird nail disease.
id say french manicures are cool when your nails are long. i suggest you try having them put on fake nails.
you could have them paint it on your nail directly, or get acrylic nails, which are pricey if you want to keep them up. i had acrylic nails and it took me a while to get my regular nails back to their normal way. i suggest you just let them do your french manicure short, unless you're willing to ruin your nails temporarily with acrylics. if you do let them do your french manicure short, when your nails aren't painted, apply clear strengthening polish to your nails weekly, and if you are not on a tight budget, go to the salon and get a manicure every few weeks. i hope this helps.

    Alternative to salon french nails?

I've had salon nails only once, and absolutely adored them. However, it's difficult to perform daily tasks with them (and not the mention, costly).

I would like to know what you perceive as the best ';fake-nail'; kit sold at drug stores. I've been looking into Kiss French Nails but refuse to buy them unless I know that they're any good.

Please reply only if you've actually used the nail kits. Thank you!Alternative to salon french nails?
I believe the name of the one I used was:

Sally Hansen Hard As Nails: Sheer Romance 3415 French Manicure, 3 ct

Either way it was by Sally Hansen, it was really easy to do, and I received a lot of compliments..

It is not a press on, by any means and you don't need to use any glue, which is great! You use your natural nails. (Even if they are short %26amp; neat)

The Sally Hansen french manicure kit can be bought @ walmart, and comes with 3 nail polishes (colors: white, pink, and final gloss coat) and nail shape stickers to use as a guide paint your tips. I only used the white nail polish (for my tips), and the gloss to finish off my manicure. I didn't end up using the pink fleshy tone for my base as I felt it didn't accurately matched my skin tone. It still worked great, looked very natural %26amp; it felt great, because I didn't have to feel awkward grabbing things or picking things up. Also, because you are solely using nail polish, it comes off easily with nail polish remover, plus they give you 20 nail shape sticker guides, so you can re-due them over more than once to keep them nice.Alternative to salon french nails?
I have used the Kiss French Nails

    quite a few times

    (probably about 10)

    and i like them

    the only problem

is that you have to file them to the size you like

and they are usually pretty long

    so its very time consuming

    also they flip off sometimes

but its nice that you can just re-glue

    i think they are good

but dont look as nice as they do at salons

and thye dont stay on as long either

but for a store bought kit

    i really do like them

though they can be kind of hard to take off

they have a nail removal kit

but i have never used it

because i just soak my nail

    in full acetone
their all equally bad and super-fake looking.

  • How can I get my french tips off of my nails?

I got french tips a a little over a month ago and recently had to get rid of them due to a job which required heavy typing. I have had fake nails before and have always just popped them off after a while. However, these ones seem to be super strong. I ended up having to cut the tips off and now have about 3cm worth of the clear nail part still stuck to all of my nails. I have worked at these for a couple of weeks to try to loosen them off without any luck. Does anyone have any tips as to how I could get them off... without a lot of pain? How can I get my french tips off of my nails?
use acetone nail polish remover and let them soak for about 15minutes and then peel back slowly. How can I get my french tips off of my nails?
you can buy nail polish remover that takes acrylic off nails but read the label. some removers dont so choose wisely.
Definitely Acetone!! dip your nails in acetone wait about a minute or two then peel!
soak in pure acetone. It is very cheap no more than $1.00. Please do not pull them off it will damage your nail bed and you will wish you had spent the $1.00.

Ladies, is French manicure a good cure for nail biting?

NO. I had one done and at one point tried biting them.

  • I would like to try a french manicure on my nails?

I usually just polish, but want something different while on vacation. Are the kits you can buy easy to use. and do they last as long as regular polish, without a lot of touch-ups?I would like to try a french manicure on my nails?
Yes. If you want it to last longer, be sure to put a 2 layers of top coat. Just a hint. If you want to touch up the white part on the run, buy one of those ';paint in a tube'; in white ( one with the thin point). Walmart carries them in the craft dept. It does wonders for a quick touch ups.I would like to try a french manicure on my nails?
My 15 year old daughter does her own and they look great!

They do last longer than regular polish because there's a nice durable top coat application.

She buys the Sally Hansen kits over the counter, there are many brands available.
its just a light pink nail polish, with white nail polish on the top.
just go to a salon so u dont mess up
yes i get them all the time
You can buy french kits from Sally Hansen. They sell white and silver color for tips and different shades of pinks and beiges. They include adhesive stencil tapes which can help you to paint on a straight line. But you have to wait for your nails to dry before sticking them on. You also need to wait for the tips to dry before removing the adhesive tapes. Lastly you will have to paint on a top coat. A proper manicure should be able to last about a week depending on your life style, pedi can last up to 2 weeks. If the colour comes off, I am afraid you can't ';touch up';, you will have to remove everything. So, need to have time if you wants to DIY. Classic french may look nice, glitter tips looks trendier. I am a freelance manicurist, feel free to drop questions.
you should just get them done for a long lasting while....but if you want a kit, there are many places where you can get them, such as target and those types. :)

    Red is always my favorite.
    FRENCH
    Definitely red.
I'm going to say red because I'm not sure exactly what a french manicure is. :-) A lot of guys probably wouldn't either.
Red nail polish. More invigorating. And has that personal touch to it.

Acrylic Nails & In-fills - I hate my real nails showing underneath the french tips! What do you normally do?

I get acrylics because I like the whole 'french tip' look and i am a nail-biter. After about three or four in-fills, obviously my real nails are growing so as the french tips get filed back this white part gets smaller and my real nail is showing as well. What do other people normally do?

I know an easy solution would be to just paint the nails with a colour, but i prefer the french tip look. Any suggestions?Acrylic Nails %26amp; In-fills - I hate my real nails showing underneath the french tips! What do you normally do?
Just make sure to get a back fill when every second fill. .. just in case you don't know what a back fill is, it's when then they drill the white part of the nail and put more white so it covers the natural nail. Hope you understand what I'm trying to say; if not ask your nail girl you want this she'll know exactly what you're talking about. When the repaint the white it doesn't look as nice.Acrylic Nails %26amp; In-fills - I hate my real nails showing underneath the french tips! What do you normally do?
Normally when you have refills the gel or acrylic is buffed back and then a clear coat of gel or acrylic applied follwed by a full colour or in your case the tips should be redone with either white or colour gel or acrylic followed by another coat of clear. This should be done each time, if not then the technician is doing it incorrectly. Also if you do want a colour there are many coloured acrylic powders available- unfortunately with acrylics many salons use the cheap products and wont buy the acrylic colours, but it would be worth asking them about it next time, and make sure that they apply the white each time or they are just ripping you off :)
what do you mean the white tip is getting smaller? when you get your nails filled don't they repaint them for you? when i get mine filled, they remove the polish and repaint the nail, cut them back if they're getting too long, and the white part never gets smaller. i dont know if i'm understanding you or not.

How can i make my nails grow to french manicure size in 10 days?

i need to make my nails grow so i can o a french manicure but i need my nails to grow that size in 10 days.HOW!!!!!!How can i make my nails grow to french manicure size in 10 days?
Jello can be found in any grocery store. Mix with water to make gelatin. I would start with a fresh clean manicure and tell the nail tech you want to keep your nails long and strong and ask what she recommends for nail growth.

    Try this little trick. Buy a large quantity of small nail files and some small bottles of hand lotion, a cuticle brush. cuticle or nail oil and as already suggested ';Sally Hansen Diamond Nail Hardener';

Place the small nail files every where you are frequent to be, at work, in every handbag, hobo bag or purse you own, in your car, at home, every room you spend the most time in, bathroom, kitchen, bedroom, etc. Along with the hand lotion. As you use the Sally Hansen Growth polish, and your nails start to grow each day, if you feel a snag or rough edge, file (in one direction) the rough edge down, use the hand lotion frequently and use a cuticle stick and push back your cuticles and the cuticle brush to stimulate ne nail growth. Use gloves to garden or other hard tasks. Maybe even to drive or plastic ones to wash dishes. If the Sally Hansen product starts to wear off, replace it.

Eat jello, drink lots of milk and water to flush your body fluids. Use your favourite color polish if you like, but as a suiggestion make usre you start with a clear base coat, then at least two color coats and a top coat. You should notice a difference in a short time. Good luck. How can i make my nails grow to french manicure size in 10 days?

Best technique for self french manicure on short nails?

I just bought one of those french manicure sets, cause i'm all about DIY. But, I can't seem to get the white tip to look good. Everytime I do it, it just looks messy. I bought the one with the pen thinking it would be easier to maneuver, but I think it's mainly because my nails are so short. Anyone have any good tips? I've tried using the guides and regular scotch tape, which worked ok, but not the way I wanted. Please help!Best technique for self french manicure on short nails?
The forms don't work very well. The best thing to do is to paint everything except your thumbs, then use your thumbnail as a tool to straighten your lines. Then at the last you can do your thumbs very carefully. If you want to really make them look good, though, you will need to go buy a blunt edge craft or nail brush. Dip the brush in remover and remove the white polish that is sloppy.Best technique for self french manicure on short nails?
I just paint on the nail and finger tip so that the line on the nail is straight and then use a q-tip with nail polish remover and take off the excess white on my finger tip. It always works for me, but i usualy do it on my toes. I can't even paint my own nails with normal nail polish lol.

Should I get French tips or designed nails for Prom?

My prom is in 3 days and i don't know weather to get a french manicure or get a design. My dress is like ocean blue. Any tips would be nice. ThxsShould I get French tips or designed nails for Prom?
Depends if you want to look more classy or more social. I could see clear nails with blue tips and a little sparkle on the nail personally. French tips are usually what everyone does, why not try to make them stand out and look even prettier? :-)Should I get French tips or designed nails for Prom?
I think you should have it simple and pretty.

I would go with blue french tips (the shade of the dress)

or just a simple design, don't go overboard as it might look overloaded.

Do the nail as you like, it's you special day! :)

    Enjoy your prom!

    ahaha just kidding :D
French manicures look so much more sophisticated and beautiful than designs. Get the manicure and look great.
Get a French Manicure but instead of white tips have them do it in the same color as your dress. If they don't have that color then go with white tips.
French manicure has always been a classic look. Have you considered the American manicure?
you should do a clear nail with ocean blue tips with a silver stripe..it would go good with the dress and add some personality to anything you wear afterwards...hope i could help
French tip would look better, aspecially for a prom.
You should get french tips:) they are more classic.designed look pretty cheepy.have fun at prom!

French tip at nail places question(s)?

Ok so Im going to a wedding on July 4th, and im getting my nails done (french tip) the day before the wedding. Ive never gotten frech tips at a nail place before though. I was wondering, do your nails already have to be long to get french tip done when you get there? or can they be short?French tip at nail places question(s)?
You can do french tips on short nails, but for some reason people at the salons (at least the asian ones) won't. Tell tell you your nail is to short when really all they are doing is painting. But medium length would probably be best.French tip at nail places question(s)?
it depends. if you just want your natural nails painted or airbrushed to look pink with white tips then it can be done unless you bite your nails. it can be done on nails that just come to the tip and not over the end of the nail. If you want the nails to last longer, and be longer if you do bite your nails or have very short nails, you can ask for acrylic nails or gel nails. They can build the pink and white on top of your nail, or if needed, they can glue a white or clear tip and then cut them to the length you want and add the pink and white. with nail enchancements, you will either need to have them filled in a couple weeks, soak them off with acetone, or let them grow off. HTH.
your nails DO NOT have to be long to get french tips done. they can be short, however, they shouldnt be the nail biting frenzy/ gross kind of short... because it might hurt when you take them off. lol.
i personally think that french looks better on longer nails...

so if you can, grow your nails out a bit in the next couple weeks!

Every how long is a nail refill needed for french tip?

I would say 3-4 weeks. depends how fast your nails grow!!

your hair and nails grow at the same pace so if your hair grows fast, your nails grow fast. I would say 3 weeks!!

im 14 and i want to get them for my graduation and how much would they cost? oh and if you know a nail salon in Canoga Park, Ca plzzz help!!!How much are french tip acrylic nails?
A full set usually costs at least $40.00 (at a decent salon). How much are french tip acrylic nails?
I'm not sure about your area, but in Florida the prices are around $20-30 for a full set. This will usually include airbrush designs (like the french tips you want) but they chip pretty easily. You can get pink and white which runs around $35-50 but they use literally pink and white acrylic so there is nothing to chip off unless you actually break the nail. I usually do pink and whites because they last so much longer and are worry free. You can also see if your local nail salon will do white tips which uses a white colored extension tip instead of the usual clear, resulting in both the cheaper price (usually $25-35) and the long lasting effects (because the color is beneath the acrylic). The only drawback of this is that when it grows out, you have to eventually get regular acrylics and air brush or paint them because the white tips grow out.
They can be pretty expensive. I just went to a drugstore and got a set for $5.99 that you put on yourself. It comes with the glue and different sized nails. They look great and are waaay less expensive. (:
It just depend on the nail shop.
it depends where you get them done

What looks better a french manicure with natural nails or an acryllic french manicure?

Id say a french manicure with your natural nails. On the plus you have better and healthier looking nail. What looks better a french manicure with natural nails or an acryllic french manicure?
I'd say, personally, it depends on your nails.

If you have pristine nails, always taken care of, natural may be a better fit.

But, if they're not so perfect, acrylic may be the better choice.

But you have to consider what you'll be doing.. Heat, chemicals, all may lead to the glue failing, and you're left with 9 acrylic, and 1 natural looking like crap.

True, the heat/chemicals may make the natural look fade, but at least it would be consistent. What looks better a french manicure with natural nails or an acryllic french manicure?
Natural nails as with acrylic french manicure, I can tell what is natural nails and acrylic. Personally I think acrylic nails look so bulky and ugly compared to natural and think of the chemicals that acrylic use.
Acryllic does wreck your nail beds, and the natural they are probably the best ones to use... but I mean it is your choice!

I stopped getting fake nails and started taking care of my nails for once and im actually doing a good job. try using the ends of bandaids, they'll stay and wont have any gaps when you put them on your nail and it wont peel away any nailpolish you already havee. How do I make a nice french manicure on natural nails?
I don't like the kits with the sticker stencils, they always look bad when I do it. There is a new ';pen'; that you use to draw the white paint on the tips, I think that is easier. I *think* Sally Hansen makes it. Then painting the pink or peach color over it is easy.
use a thin piec of tape on DRY nails to get a more even line, or try those manicure pens by sally hansen

Do you have to have fake nails for a french manicure?

My mom won't let me have fake nails. So I need to need to know. She won't because it ruins the real nail. Or at least thats what she said.Do you have to have fake nails for a french manicure?
No, you don't, you just have to have them long enough to paint the tipsDo you have to have fake nails for a french manicure?
As far as potentially ruining your real nails, your mother is correct. Having ';fake'; nails attached weakens the underlying natural nail - sometimes permanently.

That being said, you do not need fake nails to get a french manicure. I do not have fake nails and I sometimes get a french manicure. You just have to have your natural nails long enough for the manicurist to paint the tip.
Having fake nails are great because the French Manicure looks fantastic, and it's so easy to apply them. However, it really does ruin your real nails. Because of the glue, when you try to remove it, it scraps and destroys the nail. Anyways, you don't necessarily need to get fake nails to have a French Manicure. You can just paint them that way.

First, cute your nails to a decent length. You don't want them stubby short, and you don't want them to be disgustingly long. Next, you need to file them, to make them nice and smooth. Then, you need to push back your cuticles. Finally, you needa put on a base coat.

Next, after the base coat is dried, apply a soft pink nail polish. It's a good idea to apply a second coat.

Then, your going to need to have patience and time, because next, you hafta apply the white tip. It's not as hard as it seems. But if you only have a certain amount of time, and little patience, it's going to be hard. Get a WHITE nail polish. NOT CREAM!! Cream will come up too like and you'll be able to see it though the other nail polish. Start from the left corner of your nail, and work it going across.

Finally, after that's done drying, apply a top coat, to prevent it from chipping, and to keep it shiny and lasting long.

    Hope it helps ! :]

    x
Well some people believe the glue is good for your nails.

Cough Its just super glue so it does ruin your real nails.

Hell people just wear them for style!

Any who either grow out your nails alittle so they can have a little tip. They don't have to be long.

Or you can try ever last french nails although they are fake nails they aren't like the others. Just snap on a go!
You can pick up the nail polish kits @ Walmart or any drug store. you do have to have some length to your real nails to make it look right, but not a lot of length is needed.
I never use fake nails, If your nails are long enough buy a french manicure set that's what I use on my nails. Doesn't damage them %26amp; is cheaper that going to a professional %26amp; paying for fake nails.
No you can just paint them, however it'll probably chip off faster that's why some people think its better to do it with fake nails. But you can do them on your real nail.
lol no!!! fake nails are out anyway. and yes, they do ruin the real nail over time.
    Nooo

If you get french tips, most teens get them.

oh honey! you poor thing! I know how bad that hurts. Go to walmart and buy something called pure acetone. make sure it is 100 %. pour some in a glass bowl and soak your nails for 10 minutes at a time. After each 10 mins take them out and wipe off the now gelled acrylic. proceed to soak again and again until they come off completely. I worked in a nail salon, don't trust anyone that tells you different. good luck hun. all the bestHow do you remove fake nails like a french manicure?
Polish remover doesn't work. You will need to use pure acetone. Pour some in a glass bowl and soak your nails. You will only be able to do one hand at a time. Soak them for about 20 minutes, then using an orangewood stick scrape off the loosened product. Soak and scrape until it's all off. If you remove your hand from the acetone while soaking it will start to set up again so keep it in the acetone.

If your acrylic nails had a gel overlay then you will need to file the top of the nail to break the seal of the gel otherwise the acetone won't budge the product.

get a bowl and put nail polish remover in it then soak ur nails in them and they should come of and if not go to the place where u got ur nails done and ask them how you can get them off

    Most likely!

The nail techs are usually very talented, and if they can't do exactly what you want I am almost positve they will be able to do something very close to it.Can I take a picture of what design I want on french manicured nails...?
    Depends.

Some salons have ';air brushing'; and others have nail techs that are good in freehand styles.

Each place does it different...this happened to me this weekend...I wanted black nails with White tips and she said she couldnt do it. I wondered why, if they can do a french manicure and paint a white tip over pink, why couldnt they paint white over the black...but I found out that that salon puts the white tips on first and perfects them with a special brush THEN puts the other color over therefore, they couldnt use Black to paint over the white.

    Each place is different!
maybe, depends what they can do. try it. but they have like a huge list of sample ones you can use. mine has like 50 on one, and 50 on the other, then 20 in front lol. so im sure they probly could
Perfect! Bring a picture of what you really want and if they are good they can do it.

I've tried explaining it but they couldn't do it by my description. i wish I could just bring a photo.
They should be able to it...depending on the salon you go to. I mean you're paying for their services so I doubt they'll tell you they can't.
they should be able to do it

    French Manicure with nail varnish?

hiya need some help. I have been applying nail polish for french manicures, but it seems to keep peeling off and chipping. where am i going wrong???French Manicure with nail varnish?
try applying a base coat before the nail varnish, and then once you've completed the look you want to achieve, try using a top coat to seal it...

Nail varnishes take around 10mins to dry, but at least a good hour or so to dry fully, and this also depends on how many layers or the thickness...

try not to do ur nails in a rush, spend time ensuring they dry properly as sometimes if they're still a little wet, and u've put 2 or 3 coats that is the reasoning for it peeling off...

try different brands as well, some nail varnishes contain plastic (obv they wont tell u this) hence it being plasticy when it peels off...

    hope this is helpful

    Short nail acrylics&french tip?

i have very short and brittle nails. last time i got my nails done i had the white tips. one time i got the white tips and the whole nail was pretty much white since my nails are very short. the last time i got my nails done the guy did it different and made the illusion that my real tips were way at the top.

meaning there was a lot of pink.

how do you ask for that?

and how do you ask for toenail acrylics? my cousin in floriida told me about them and now i want to try.

    thanksShort nail acrylics%26amp;french tip?
for toenail acrylics, ask for a acrylic french tip pedicure.

and for the illusion thing, just ask to make the tips longer or just ask for the same guy that did it, it might just be his way of making your nails like that.

If i use a nail whitening pencil to make a french manicure...?

do i color in my real tips on top of my nails, or on the inside? If i use a nail whitening pencil to make a french manicure...?
i color underneath the nail, and seal it in with a clear polish. Or just carry the pencil with me for touch ups during the day.If i use a nail whitening pencil to make a french manicure...?
The inside. And use an emery board under your nails to rough up the surface so the pencil sticks better.
top they used to do the inside but that causes infection !!

Do You have to have long nails for a french manicure to look nice?

my nails are kind of shorterand so will a french manicure look nice on them?because usually when i see ppl with french manicures, they have long nails. and if so,whats a good french manicure kit?cuz i dont have enough money to spend at a salon for it.Do You have to have long nails for a french manicure to look nice?
get opi nail envy (the original green one)

save up for a jar of ';one minute manicure';... its a lil expensive but it lasts a really long time. it makes your hands really really soft and naturally exfoliates the cuticle

and tweezerman porcelain nail file (optional) i just prefer cuz it seals the nail so it doesn't absorb water and get weak.

after i bought those 3 things i no longer go to the salon to get 35 dollar refills for acrylic nails every 2 weeks. every week i file my nails more square, completely remove the nail envy, use the omm, wipe the oil off my nails with a q-tip %26amp; acetone, and then apply 2 coats of nail envy. then 1 coat every other day. (sounds way more complicated than it is cuz it only takes me like 5 minutes) my nails are seriously as strong and glossy as acrylics w/ a natural french look. everyone thinks they are fake.Do You have to have long nails for a french manicure to look nice?
you dont have to have long nails to have a nice french manicure. It just depends on the person to whether they want their nails to be long or not but i was say go with nails that are medium length
you can get fake nails ppl that u c probly have fake nails too if not it wld look fine on your regular fnger nails my friends have done if you want you can get a pair of short fake nails you dont have to get them ridiculously long!
Hmmm...... Go to your nearby CVS,brroks, Rite aid, walmart ect. There plenty of kits there. You can also put on fake nails you can get at like CLAIRES or something. But if you dont wana put fake nails on short nails are OK, no one will really notice.

    HOPE THAT HELPED :)
I've seen some nice french manicures on short nails. I say go for it.

Sally Hansen has a nice kit that has the nail polish colors, nail guides, and a white manicure pen to help make a decent line.

Or you can buy the nail guides and the nail polish separately to customize the colors you actually want.
it looks really good on short nails. It gives it a polished professiona look. I agree with the girl above me. Sally Hansen has a really good one
Dont spend your money at those places unless its for your feet feels so good. All a girl needs is some nail polish makes them shine and stronger.

What is the difference between airbrush nails and a french manicure?

and if you could please show me a picture of bothWhat is the difference between airbrush nails and a french manicure?
A french manicure is just the white tip on the nail. Some salons paint it on normally, other's airbrush it on.

My salon always airbrushed the french manicures on. I usually also get a design airbrushed on my thumb nails just to give it something different. What is the difference between airbrush nails and a french manicure?
The difference would be as follows:

    Airbrush nails:

    French manicure:

    http://images.google.ca/imgres?imgurl=ht鈥?/a>

Hope you can see those pictures...they definitely answer your question on the difference.
A french manicure are where the tips are white. Airbrush is when they make pretty designs on your nails
well airbrush is just paint and they can spray on the white tip for a french or they have something i call white tips where the white is acrylic and it is permanent and does not wear off where as the airbrush wears off and looks bad with chips and all that.
